Pamper Yourself With Groupon

Tuesday, August 9, 2016
This post has been sponsored by Groupon. All opinions are mine alone.

One thing that I have come to realize I really need since becoming a wife and a mother, is "me time." I love making memories as a family but there's just something about getting pampered and not having a worry in the world during it. Often times, the days are long and I go to bed realizing I didn't do anything but chores and I feel stressed about all the things on my plate. Getting pampered helps relieve some of that stress and really helps my mental health. Whether it's receiving a much needed massage, getting a fresh coat of polish on my nails, or getting a new hairstyle, having some time alone helps me feel refreshed and rejuvenated.

As much as I love feeling special and getting a spa day, these sorts of things can really add up fast. That's why I'm so glad Groupon helps me save on all things Health, Beauty, and Wellness while also providing quality services on their site. I ensure that I'm always signed into my Groupon account on my computer so that I can pull up all the local deals right around me making it easy to save money in my area. There are so many different ways you can save on pampering yourself with Groupon thanks to their daily deals on massages, nail salons, hair salons, day spas, and much more!

My family also loves to go on adventures together. We love getting out of the house and doing a fun activity together, trying a new restaurant, and going on vacation. Groupon helps you save on all of those things with new listings constantly. Groupon has been such a wonderful resource to help my family save on services and dining, to retail products.

Groupon is also a completely free service! That's right, no paying a membership fee! Simply create an account, log in, and start saving! I know you'll love Groupon just as much as we do so go ahead and give it a try!
Trust me, you need a spa day ;)
How do you save money with Groupon Goods?

Living Life in Color

Thursday, June 30, 2016

I'll admit it, after having my daughter, I noticed my closet slowly transitioning to having more and more black.
While I actually love black clothing and don't think there is anything really wrong with owning it, I did notice I became afraid of patterns and fun colors.
It's just something about the new body I had to learn to love that made me think black was my only option.
Slowly, I tried to change that with each new day.
I became okay with the fact that my hips were permanently a little wider and I accepted the fact that my ever-growing black wardrobe, just wasn't gonna cut it.
I know you've heard me say it before, but I'm going to go ahead and say it again... I struggled with PPD after Oaklyn was born and getting dressed became such a chore when it used to be something I looked forward to each day.
I love that the clothing we all choose is a perfect expression of our personalities and that there are tons of different styles out there to be tried.
I'd like to hope that others think that I have a "colorful" personality.
I strive to bring light and happiness into any room I enter and I want my clothes to reflect that.
Thankfully with LulaRoe, they can!

I'm sure this has happened to just about everyone reading this post... you log on to Facebook and you notice someone has added you to a new group.
You enter the page and the first thing you notice is a whole bunch of bright and colorful clothing.
You keep scrolling and you notice people rapidly writing "SOLD" on an item and after they pay the group owner, the item is all theirs!
Wait, did you get that... You log on to Facebook, look at the pictures of clothes, decide what you like, and purchase it straight from there!
No getting out of your jammies, no putting makeup on, no crying from the kids in the back seat as you head over to the mall... you literally get to stay home and have the item delivered straight to your doorstep!

So what's the craze over all this brightly colored clothing and leggings being referred to as "buttery soft?"
Well, you will quickly find that the LulaRoe items you purchased are just about the most comfortable clothing in your closet.
Comfy and cute? Sign me up!
Not only that, but these clothes are modest and fit like a dream.
Every bit of my postpartum self feels comfortable in my LulaRoe clothes, so much that I may never take the leggings off ;)
LulaRoe offers several different styles of clothes so you are bound to find something that fits your preference.
From flowy dresses to pencil skirts, and cardigans to t-shirts, your consultant has got it all!
Once you find the style you like, the next huge decision is which print you like!
I am constantly amazed at how many prints LulaRoe has to offer.
So if you like one, act fast, because your consultant will never get that same print twice!

LulaRoe is unlike most businesses in the sense that they are not sold on store fronts.
LulaRoe was founded off the idea of wanting to encourage woman to run their own businesses.
When you become a consultant with LulaRoe, you now own your own business that you get to run on your own.
How cool is that?
"LuLaRoe exists to provide an opportunity for people to create freedom by selling comfortable, affordable, stylish clothing, and offering its consultants the independence to set their own pace and schedule. This creates the time to spend with those closest to them, the very thing DeAnne had once desired for herself!"

Have I sold you on these clothes yet?
If so, let me now help you find a place to buy them!
I was able to work directly with Jamie Eberle, a LulaRoe consultant, and have loved my experience with her!
She has an awesome selection to choose from and is right there if you need any help or have any questions.
Here's a little about Jamie:
"My name is Jamie Eberle and I live in Broken Bow, Nebraska with my husband Troy and our 2 boys, Maclin & McCray.  I was introduced to LuLaRoe from a good friend that was an consultant and purchased some items from her and I immediately fell in love with their clothes. It helped me branch out of my comfort zone of black and white solid colors to fun and unique pattern. Not to mention all the amazingly soft fabrics.  I love the variety you get of patterns so your always different.  I wanted to bring this clothing to where i live so i became a consultant so other women in my community could have the fun i was having with the clothing."
I love that Jamie really believes in this brand and is so excited to sell it!
Everything I am wearing (and constantly wear) in these photos are from her Facebook group.
I loved that she packaged the items super cute, and even wrote a sweet note!
So head on over to her Facebook group to purchase your first item from LulaRoe!
You can also stay up to date on the new merchandise she is receiving by following her instagram account.
I'm also super excited to let all of you guys know that if you make a purchase with Jamie and mention my post, you will receive 15% off your order and have a chance at winning a free pair of leggings!
So, run! Don't walk ;)
One more time... the link to her Facebook group to shop is right here :)

I hope you all fall in love with these clothes just as I have!
Don't forget to always dress and live colorfully :)

All my love,
Aleigh Joy

Become an Abolitionist

Wednesday, May 11, 2016

Hunter and I had the opportunity to attend a screening of the film, The Abolitionists, last week.
To be completely honest, we went not really thinking we would get much out of the movie and used it as more of a date night.
However, we left with a completely different feeling!
Both of us left that night completely inspired to do our part in making a difference.

So... what is the movie about?
The shortened version is this...
Today there are over two million enslaved children forced into the sex industry around the world.
If you ask me, that alone is completely sickening.
So the movie is about rescuing these children and saving them from the horror they are living.
On December 10th, 2013 Special Agent Tim Ballard (aka Hunter's mother's cousin's son... ha did you get that?) turned in his Homeland Security badge and  resigned from his employment with the United States government.
He had spent over a decade rescuing these poor children from child sex tourism both domestically and overseas.
Though his job was difficult, he was proud that his country was one of very few in the world who was actually doing anything about this problem.
However, mired in red tape and bureaucracy, Tim left to begin saving the children that he saw falling out of the purview of the US government.
These children constitute over 90% of the children lost to child sex slavery and he could do nothing to help them while in the employment of the US government.
This is a story about the lost children from other countries and the rescue team’s exploits as they investigate and liberate enslaved children from around the world.

Okay, so you're thinking one of 3 things right now... maybe a few of them actually... but I'm sure you're thinking something along the lines of...
1) "Wow sounds interesting! I'd actually love to see this movie! Tell me more about where and when I can see it!"
2) "I'm a parent myself and I really don't want to watch this. It sounds like it would make me sick. How else can I help?"
3) "I'm not very interested."

So, here are my answers!

If you're number one, yay!
You really will not regret it!
Click this link to buy your tickets today :)
Also, tell all your friends to go see it!
It will only be in theaters for one day at the moment, which is May 16th.
If we can fill those theaters it will receive a theatrical release and play longer!

If you're number two... I understand!
That's actually exactly how I felt after reading up on it before I saw the movie.
It's hard, as a mom, to think about the terrible situations these children are in.
However, the movie is very well done!
It is made in a PG-13 manner because they wanted to make it appropriate for young moviegoers to see what is happening around them as well.
It is meant to caution them and wake the audience up while not scaring them away from the theater due to the darkness of the subject matter.
The goal was not to sicken people but rather to inform them and motivate them to do whatever they could do as individuals, within their own sphere of influence, to stop this plague of human trafficking.
Not to mention, 15% of the profit of movie sales from theaters will be going directly to Operation Underground Railroad which is the organization that creates the missions to save these children.
However, if you see the movie at a Larry H. Miller theater 100% of the proceeds will go to "OUR"!
If you still don't feel like seeing the movie is a good fit... you can donate by clicking here!

And if you're number three... please hear me out!
This is something that isn't just happening overseas.
It is happening right here in America too, and we need to protect our children from it.
In fact, Utah is actually the number one state where child sex trafficking happens.
Terrifying!
Please join me in taking a stand against this!
Check out this site to be even more inspired.

Please join us in taking a stand against this horrifying crime that generates over 32 billion dollars yearly.
There are also several other ways you can help... like attending events!
Here is a link to a few that sound pretty cool!
My little family will be attending the Rescue Run 5k in Lehi on May 21st and we are so excited!
I would absolutely love to see you there!
All money raised by the run will be donated to Operation Underground Railroad.
In just two years, they have already saved over 419 victims!
Just imagine how many more we can save if we just bring awareness to this subject!
To register click here and make sure to use code: INSTAGRAM to get $5 off your registration :)

I really hope you go see this movie in theaters on May 16th and attend the run!
I'll be there walking with my Oaks ;)

All my love,
Aleigh Joy

How We Got Oaklyn To Sleep Better

Monday, May 9, 2016
This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. This post is sponsored by Huggies OverNites. All opinions are mine alone. #EveryoneSleeps #CollectiveBias

Our sweet Oaklyn girl definitely did not come into this world with any sense of how to sleep.
She had her days and nights mixed up for months on months and we were up for hours upon hours of the night with her... often.
I personally love my sleep so adjusting to little to no sleep after having Oaklyn, was incredibly difficult for me.
I usually felt stressed and hardly had enough energy to make it to 2pm.
I dreaded nights because I knew I would be up most all of them.
We tried just about everything to get Oaklyn to sleep and it seemed like nothing was working.
When I went to the pediatrician for her 6 month appointment, the doctor was in complete shock that she was still waking up 3, sometimes 4 times during the night and said it was time to make some changes.
I'm happy to report, that we all sleep peacefully these days and unless I stay up too late looking at my phone, we are all very rested during the day!

So how did we do it?
The foundation was starting Oaklyn's night off right with a set bedtime routine.
We did bits and pieces of this routine since the day we brought her home from the hospital, but we now make sure we do every single step before laying her down for the night.
So what all does this routine involve?
Take a look down below!

1) Start off with a bath/shower. Oaklyn began to cry every time we put her in the bath around 11 months no mater how many times we changed the temperature. I finally decided to just turn the shower on and see what she did. To my surprise... she loved it! So, Oaklyn now showers by herself, with me sitting next to the shower of course haha! It's the cutest thing and she absolutely loves it! I wash her body with soap about every other night to make sure not to dry out her skin, but she always goes into the warm water to calm her down.
2) After her shower, we bring her into her room to put on a fresh Huggies OverNites diaper and put lotion on. Oaklyn has eczema so we absolutely never skip the lotion and baby massage. We recently started using Huggies OverNites diapers during the night and they have been a huge lifesaver! I used to go into Oaklyn's room in the morning and her sheets, onesie, and off-brand diaper would be completely soaked. I was constantly washing sheets and she was obviously uncomfortable in her leaking diaper. I knew, often times, she would have slept longer if it weren't for her soggy diaper making her uncomfortable. I'm so glad we found Huggies OverNites  because they have been the perfect solution to this problem. These diapers have insured that our Oaklyn gets a great night's sleep every night. I love knowing that she will be able to stay in a deep sleep all night long and wake up refreshed because of how durable Huggies Overnites Diapers are.
3) We then put her in clean footie pajamas to keep her comfortable and warm throughout the night. I would keep her in footie pajamas for the rest of her life if I could! they are just so snuggly and cute!
4) Oaklyn has tons and tons of hair, so once her jammies are on, we brush her locks. It has been so cute watching her learn how to brush her own hair too since we do this every night.
5) Once all of the grooming is done, we sing and pray with our little girl. I've looked forward to doing this as a family for so long and love that we do it every night. We have sang the same song to Oaklyn since the day she was born and we always make sure to pray for our little family.
6) We then get the sound machine going and turn the lights down as we give her the last bottle of the night. This helps calm her down and ensure a full tummy all night long. I love stroking her hair and her little cheeks as she drinks.
7) Once she is done and hands me the bottle, I trade it in for a pacifier. I snuggle her and let her know I love her, then tell her I'll be back for her in the morning. I then say goodnight, give her one last snuggle and kiss, and lay her down in the crib and she is out for the night.

This routine has been so critical in helping Oaklyn sleep.
We make sure to never skip a step because it helps her distinguish that it is night time.
I love that we do the same thing every night but also keep it simple enough that anyone can do it if we need them to.
If your baby is having a hard time sleeping I highly recommend that you start a good night time routine to help calm them down.

As mentioned briefly above, once Oaklyn got this routine down and started sleeping better, her diapers were always soaked in the morning!
I felt so bad knowing she was trying to sleep with a soggy diaper on and felt even worse that I had to get her up when she wasn't quite ready because her sheets were soaked with pee.
I'm so glad we found Huggies OverNites diapers because they have saved us from washing the sheets several times already and have helped Oaklyn sleep longer!

Huggies OverNites Diapers are the #1 selling Nighttime diaper and Huggies’ most absorbent diaper to help keep baby’s skin comfortable and dry for a deep sleep and happy day.

Huggies has created an amazing diaper with all night leakage protection for a full night’s sleep.

These diapers last up to 12 hours!
I love that Huggies OverNites diapers have a SnugFit Waistband to keep the diaper in place throughout the night which in turn, creates maximum protection no matter how much our Oaklyn girl tosses and turns.
In combination with Huggies OverNites Diapers, we have been loving using Huggies Natural Care Wipes!
With these wipes you are guaranteed to give your baby’s delicate skin a soft, sensitive clean.
This is Huggies’ simplest formula ever, which is made of 99 percent water for a gentle clean.
They have Triple Clean Layers that are gentle on baby’s skin, yet still thick enough to clean the mess... they really do the job!

Make sure to check out both the Huggies OverNites Diapers and Huggies Natural Care Wipes, I know you won't be disappointed!

Briar Handmade Bonnets

Monday, April 25, 2016

To say I'm completely obsessed with my little Oaks in her perfect Spring bonnet would be a complete understatement.
Her absolutely adorable, and completely functional statement piece is from Briar Handmade, and it is just the cutest.

Every single baby needs one of these bonnets for several reasons.
One being how stinkin cute babies look in them, but two being that they are perfect for more extreme weather... which we get a whole lot of in Utah!
We took these pictures on an incredibly windy day but the wind didn't even phase Oaklyn.
Not only that, but all her hair wasn't blowing in her face because it was tucked away neatly in her bonnet.
During sunny days it prevents scalp sunburns and during colder days it keeps her little ears warm while also looking so cute!
I'm definitely sold!

Rachel Goode, the founder of Briar Handmade, began creating her signature bonnets shortly after the birth of her sweet daughter Gracelyn Briar.
She understood the need for a tie-hat that was both beautiful and functional and took the crafting into her own hands.
The great response to her handmade and heartfelt bonnets from everyone was just the beginning, making this company what it is today.

These precious bonnets are made for the little people in your life and help create moments you will cherish the most.
Briar hand picks the very best materials for style, quality, and function to form the most beautiful and functional bonnets for your little ones.
Briar Handmade is based in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, and all bonnets are proudly (and carefully) manufactured in the USA.

When picking a bonnet for Oaklyn, I had the hardest time deciding!
They are all so very cute, but I decided on the Buttercup style because I love that the colors work well with every season. Especially my favorites, Spring and Fall!
However, you really can't go wrong with all the adorable prints they have.
You can shop the full collection here.

What is your favorite Spring bonnet?

Taking It Back To The 70's

Thursday, April 21, 2016
I have a little trend alert for all of you that I am completely loving!
Just bear with me on this one because I know what a lot of you are going to be thinking right off the bat... That's so 70's!
Just give them a chance though... because I think this trend is here to stay!

I'm still a firm believer in it!
Especially now that the weather is warmer and I'm breaking out the brighter colors and thinner materials. It's like a whole new closet ;)
So, let's talk a little about why I'm adding this look to the #mymammastyle tag.

I recently found out about the cutest online shop called Ruthie Grace Boutique and I literally want every single thing in their shop. Seriously.
However, I couldn't get this Pride and Prejudice Top out of my mind after seeing it!
Something about lace details just gets me every time.
What really drew me in once I saw it in person though, was how flattering it is on!
I love looser clothing. I think a shirt with the right amount of flow is perfect for any postpartum body.
It gives it a whimsical and airy feel. Another thing I love!
Not only is this top looser in the stomach region, but it is also pretty flowy in the arm area!
I loved the way it looked at first glance and I know you all will too!
It is flattering on any arm size and adds a little extra flare!
And don't even get me started on how beautiful white tops are... I could go on and on about that!
Seriously, I have yet to meet a single person that doesn't look good in white.
It's the perfect color!
Not to mention, white is one of Summer's hottest colors!

Let's talk about the wide legged pants now, shall we?
I get it, the immediate thought is "I can't pull them off."
Wrong!
I have such a hard time taking these cute things off and here's why!
 1. they are the comfiest pair of pants I own (leggings included)
 2. If you select a higher waist pant, it can easily hide your after baby muffin top... if you have one.
3. If you are a bit heavier on top, they will give your body a nice silhouette!
4. If you're "pear shaped" they will draw more attention to your ankles and your hips will appear more narrow
5. They are great for shorter women like me! They appear to be very leg lengthening when they fit well at the top and pair so great with high heels.

Have I sold you yet?
If  not, I get it ;)
But it's worth trying a pair on in the dressing room!
I honestly think this shirt and these pants were meant to be.
I love everything about both!
I have searched high and low for these pants online and could not find them and I was so sad!
But, I did find a similar pair I'll link down below.
Also, if this helps... I got them at Nordstrom Rack and the brand is Jolt!
Also, lucky for all you wonderful readers... I have a discount code for you to Ruthie Grace Boutique!
Use code: HAPPYDANCE at checkout to receive 10% off your purchase!
A little bird also told me, this shirt happens to be on sale right now, yay!

I hope you all have a fabulous week!

All my love,
Aleigh Joy

Floral Forever

Thursday, March 24, 2016

Every day here in Utah has been different weather wise, but I can definitely feel that spring is in the air!
When I think of spring I obviously think of Easter, but I also think of bright colors, dresses, and of course... flowers.

I've always dressed on the girlish side and appreciated a pretty dress, but I mean, what girl doesn't love flowers??
Receiving them, planting them, painting them, wearing them, or even just looking at them... I feel like every girl just has to love them!
I for one, think that they totally brighten my mood!
Floral prints have always been among my favorites.
They just always draw my eye.
I also love the convenience of a maxi dress, so when I saw this one from Lindsay's Secret Closet, I couldn't resist!
Floral prints are so classic, I really don't think they will ever go out of style.

That being said... I'm so excited to introduce this dress as the next dress in the series #mymammastyle!
It can be so much easier than you think to look cute as a mother of little ones so start with something cute like this dress!
I love that this dress can transition perfectly with each season.
The timeless floral print is perfect for both spring and summer, but the darker colors in the dress are also perfect for fall and winter!
I think it would look adorable with a jean jacket in the fall or a longer coat in the winter!

I also love that it is a maxi dress!
Maxi dresses look good on just about every frame.
They aren't form fitted so they just hang on your frame creating a slim look.
Something I also love about maxi dresses is that they work perfect with heels or flats, so you can decide to either dress it up or dress it down.
This particular dress is made a little shorter, but I personally love that you can see all of my wedges!
These wedges are old, but were hidden in the back of my closet for far too long so I got to rekindle my love for them ;)
In fact, Hunter asked me if they were new when he saw them, haha!

This dress is from Lindsay's Secret Closet and I am totally loving this online store!
Every single thing in the shop is super affordable and trendy and perfect to add to your "mom wardrobe."
Is there a better combo?
This particular dress is actually under $30! Score!

I'm so excited to style this dress differently through every season.
I'm sure you'll love something from Lindsay's Secret Closet so I have partnered with her to bring all of my wonderful followers a promo code!
Go ahead and use code: ALEIGHJOY for $5 off your purchase of $35 or more! :)

What is your current favorite print?
Let me know in the comments!
And, don't forget to tag your photos with #mymamma style to get featured on my blog!

Here's Why You Need a Multi Use Cover

Monday, March 21, 2016

I know, I know, another thing to add to the ever growing list of baby supplies that you just need that our parents, grandparents, great grandparents, and so on managed to live without...
I totally understand that it can get annoying with everyone saying you need "this" and can't live without "that" but this is one baby product I highly recommend you invest in.
I had a huge list of baby products in my purse before Oaklyn was born.
I continually added on to it every single day and before I knew it I practically purchased half of Target and most of Buy Buy Baby...
I realize every baby is different and prefers different products, but here's why I think you need to invest in a Copper Pearl Multi Use Cover for your infant.

Keep Your Baby Safe From Germs
As a mother, you love to show your new baby off... from a distance. Thinking your tiny baby might get sick from all the people that are trying to hold and touch him or her is a terrifying thought. So, why not just keep your little one safe and hidden with a Copper Pearl cover? This cover fits snug over the car seat and is the perfect way to tell others you don't want them holding your little one without actually saying it ;) There is also a hole at the top so you can look inside and make sure your baby is safe.

Have More Control Over The Temperature
As a little baby, Oaklyn slept quite often in her car seat. I didn't want to wake her up to bring her wherever we were going, so we kept her in the car seat in the stroller. She was born in February meaning we still had quite a few cold and windy days ahead of us. I wanted to ensure that she would stay warm without having to use a million blankets. I bought the normal car seat cover that latches on to the top and you lift it up as needed. It worked fine inside, but was terrible outside! Any time I wanted to check on her, I had to lift it up and let the cold air flood her face which usually woke her up. Another thing I hated was that it would fly up because of wind and unless I wanted to attempt to push the stroller and hold the cover down, there was no way around it. I'm so much happier with my Copper Pearl Cover because it fits snug over the seat meaning no matter how strong the wind blows, the cover will stay put. I also love that I can just look through the top hole to check on her.

Nurse Comfortably Without Being Exposed
We took Oaklyn to Disneyland when she was only a few months old. She was never the best at nursing, so I made the decision to exclusively pump. I tried to wait as long as I could. but by noon I was so engorged I could hardly stand it. I desperately needed to pump but couldn't find a place without anyone around... I mean hello, we were at Disneyland! I sat on a bench with my old nursing cover and tried my best to strategically pump without exposing myself. It was a nearly impossible task! I kept telling my husband that I wished my whole back wasn't showing so he stuck a blanket behind me. That helped a little, until I decided to move... The Copper Pearl  multi use covers are basically a poncho, so everything is completely covered and you can nurse, or pump, comfortably anytime and anywhere!

Keep Baby Clean In the Cart
Oaklyn loves to touch everything! I don't blame her, she's just super curious! However, I can't prevent her from touching the part she sits in, in the cart. I have used several anti bacterial wipes to wipe it clean before sticking her in, but I never know how much that actually helps. It is so relieving to just use my Copper Pearl multi use cover! It fits over most shopping carts and keep your little one from touching the same spot the baby before her sucked on...

I have completely fallen in love with our Copper Pearl Multi Use Cover!
I also love that it is gender neutral so I can continue to use it for the next baby whether it's a boy or girl!
I have a feeling all of you will love this item too so I have teamed up with Copper Pearl to bring all of you 10% off your purchase by using code JOYOFLIFE at checkout from now until Thursday night!
Also, don't forget to enter the giveaway on my instagram to win either a set of bandana bibs or a multi use cover from Copper Pearl!

All my love,
Aleigh Joy
