Country Fest!

Monday, October 28, 2013
This weekend I went to country fest!
A local radio station puts this concert on a couple times a year.
Although it really was tons of fun and the artists were great, I have no desire to go back haha.
But if I do, I will sit down!
There were five different artists making a total of seven hours standing...
My feet hurt just thinking about it.
I had beer spilled on my leg and my hair smelled like cigarettes by the end of the night.
You could say us Mormon girls were a little out of place...
It's a good thing we had each other!
...and that yummy fresh squeezed lemonade :)
Oh, and Josh Turner wasn't too bad of a sight either.

Our Senior

Senior night is a pretty big deal.
Or at least it was for me.
I remember walking alongside my sister down the grizzly football field over four years ago trying to imagine what it would be like when it was my turn.
Then I blinked and it was already my turn.
I remember that night crystal clear.
I had curled my hair, and then wondered why as it began to rain...
I tried my hardest not to tear up as I had each parent holding onto my arms,
We were all smiles, despite the rain, but I had a sinking feeling as I realized it really was all coming to an end.
We won that game, a fight broke out on the field, and it definitely poured.
It was absolutely wonderful.

Every memory came rushing back as we walked my little brother down the field on his senior night.
I can't believe the last of us kids had his senior night.
Time doesn't hold on for anyone, that's for sure.
I'm so proud to be his sister.
He makes me laugh uncontrollably with his amazing sense of humor.
He's sweet, loving, and has the best intentions.
I still can't seem to grasp the fact that he isn't necessarily my "little" brother anymore.
I love you Andrew!
Finish strong :)

I've gone "batty" for him

How on earth are we already here?
We're in the midst of autumn and truly, I can't believe it.
I swear we were just getting excited about summertime beach weather.
(although let's be honest... it's beach weather year round in San Diego)
Before we know it we'll be sitting around the table eating turkey and sipping sparkling cider.
Then we will find ourselves rockin around the Christmas tree.
And before we know it, we'll be singing auld lang syne as 2014 rolls in.
Seriously though, where does time go?
I'm truly not complaining.
The sooner the holidays pass, the sooner I get to to begin my forever with the one I've dreamed about for as long as I can remember.
One day we will figure out an exact release date for that sweet missionary, one day..
Until then, I'll continue making him packages that I probably get more excited about than he does.
I had been thinking about doing a Halloween/ autumn one for quite some time but couldn't seem to slow life down to actually put it together.
So, it was kinda thrown together.
But! It turned out much better than I thought it would :)
You better believe I listened to Christmas music and had my cookies for santa candle burning away the entire time I put it together.
Oh, and I cried every time "I'll be home for Christmas came on."
Can you guess what my Christmas wish is this year?
Yes, yes you can.

Anyhow let's get to the contents:

Alright, that's all I have for ya!
Now on to planning the next package :)
I probably won't miss my hand cramping up every time I write a letter. I don't think I'll miss crying every time I look at old pictures. I definitely won't miss that lonely feeling that just lingers everywhere I go.
But making packages, yeah I think I'll miss that :)

Here's to loving you through every season of life Hunter Miles!
Next season, you will be right here with me :)

All my love,
Aleigh Joy

P.S. Do you have any questions? Did you use any of these ideas? I would love to hear about them! Email me at: ajoy94@gmail.com. thanks!

Conference Weekend

Sunday, October 13, 2013

^ I loved that talk. I just loved it so much!
This entire conference hit home for me.
I really enjoy conference usually, but this time, it couldn't have come at a better time.
And though I'm sure I'll be saying that for the rest of my life, I am so so grateful for every word spoken at this year's general conference.
I was able to attend every session this year.
A total of eight hours over the span of two days sitting in the conference center.
It was amazing.
Being in the conference center with thousands of other Latter Day Saints was an incredibly spiritual experience.
I couldn't help but just look around as we were singing each congregational hymn.
I love being Mormon.
And, I am proud of it :)

The weekend consisted of hearing amazing inspired words from the general authorities of the church and seeing (and meeting!) lots of great friends.
Remember sweet Morgan??
Well, I almost peed my pants as we were running towards each other meeting for the first time!
We both had plans to go to conference and that being said, we got to actually meet each other!
Like I said, conference could not have come at a better time!
She is a darling girl with such a sweet spirit about her.
We were able to attend the Salt Lake Temple (uhm gorgeous!) together with Emily and her family as well to do baptisms.
Amazing.

I could not have asked for a better weekend, truly.
(other than dropping my purse in the water at city creek and the maid throwing away my keys at the hotel... but hey, why waste my breath right?)
I already can't wait for the next conference.
Oh, and by then... my sweet Hunter will be home!!
The perfect bonus :)

Here's some pictures!
Because, I wouldn't be me without snapping hundreds.

All my love,
Aleigh Joy
