God Gave Us Families

Sunday, June 25, 2017

When we moved into this little apartment, I had the itch to just start from scratch in the home decor department.
The walls here are white, like I've always wanted, and I felt like it gave me a clean slate to decorate how I've always wanted to.
It has been so fun working on different DIY projects and getting rid of decor that never really was my style, but fit with where we were living.
I'll be sharing a few of those projects here and there as I finish them, but today I'm so beyond excited to share my personal favorite piece of new decor.

We had two open walls that I didn't have anything for.
I stared at them for about a month just trying to figure out what I wanted to do.
One thing that kept coming to mind for the front room wall was an oversized print of The Family: A Proclamation To The World.
I kept coming back to that idea so I began searching for prints on Etsy.
My search took me to Sincerely Us Shop where I literally fell in love with everything I saw.
Seriously you guys, I want every single thing in their shop!
When I came across their canvas prints of The Proclamation, The Living Christ, and The Articles of Faith I about died because I loved them so much!
It was exactly what my front wall was missing.
I was blown away by the quality and just how gorgeous they are in person.
I mean that grey washed wood, the twine to hang them, and the cutest fonts... yeah they're amazing!
I can't wait to have a place with even bigger walls soon enough because I can only imagine how amazing they'll look!

On top of the fact that these signs are gorgeous and every single one of you needs them... I also absolutely love the reminder they give to my family each day.
Today Hunter said "I love those signs, every day it reminds me that family is the most important thing in life."
I couldn't agree more.
They are the first thing I see when I come in the door, the last thing I see when I walk out, and everything I want to teach Oaklyn and baby C.
The Proclamation gives so much guidance in such a short message.
Family helps us to progress and develop and each family member is placed together for a reason.
It makes me think of the primary song and the line "God gave us families, to help us become what he wants us to be."
I couldn't agree more.
I know that my family is shaping me into everything I need to be.
The Proclamation is just a simple reminder of how God designed families and how following the design He has for families can bless our lives.
I'm so thankful for my own family and that I have these three pieces hanging on my wall as constant reminders of what we believe, love, and cherish.

So seriously guys, your wall is totally missing these... just trust me ;)

Anniversary Recap

Monday, March 6, 2017

Our anniversary was last week!
Three years of marriage in the books, woohoo!
Hunter and I were talking about how small of a number that seems in comparison to how long we've known each other and wanted to get married ha.
Whenever people ask how long we've been married it feels so funny saying only three years because I've loved the guy since I was 14!
Now here we are with a 2 year old, one baby on the way, and three years of marriage under our belts.
Life has been insane lately but there's no one else I'd rather do this insane life with than Hunter.
He's working two jobs consistently and another when he has time and gets asked to.
He's also going to school full time and working so hard to graduate by December.
I'm at home growing a baby and raising a toddler while running three business of my own.
It's challenging, but at the end of the day, we have so so so much to be thankful for and forever to spend with each other :)
I was going through my old journals last night and laughing at my teenage self and how smitten I was with Hunter.
"I can't believe this is real life! He's so dreamy and perfect in every way. I'm the luckiest girl in the world!"
I wrote that after our first kiss, awww young love ;)
While we probably get on each other's nerves a bit more now (ha), I still think he's the dreamiest guy alive and I still feel incredibly lucky to be his wife :)

I wasn't feeling my best the day of our anniversary but was so excited about dinner.
We planned to go to The Black Sheep Cafe in Provo which is one of my favorites!
I was craving their buffalo nickel burger literally all day.
Hunter sent me the sweetest text when I woke up and as I was getting ready for dinner, he brought in the cutest bouquet of daisies.
He put some lemonade in champagne glasses and we toasted to three amazing years together :)
Then we headed out to the restaurant where we had an amazing meal and incredible service.
You guys, if you haven't been to Black Sheep, you need to go!
Hunter got the special which was filet mignon with a whole lot of other fancy things and it was seriously soooo good! I kept stealing bites ;)
I got the buffalo nickel burger which is a ½ lb. Buffalo burger with lemon-rosemary mayo, jack cheese, grilled onion, a cabernet sauvignon reduction (uhmm this is the best part), arugula, and tomato on a pretzel bun and served with rosemary cotija fries.
Are you drooling yet??
Gosh I'm craving it now haha.
Like I said before, you need to go!
Every single thing on their menu is delicious.

Sorry for the iphone quality food pics. We were so excited to eat I forgot i had my nice camera!

Overall it was a great and low maintenance way for us to celebrate three years in the books :)
(the lower maintenance the better for this pregnant mama)
Thank you soo much to Black Sheep cafe for  an amazing meal and to Hunter for 3 incredible years of marriage :)

All my love,

Floral Forever

Thursday, March 24, 2016

Every day here in Utah has been different weather wise, but I can definitely feel that spring is in the air!
When I think of spring I obviously think of Easter, but I also think of bright colors, dresses, and of course... flowers.

I've always dressed on the girlish side and appreciated a pretty dress, but I mean, what girl doesn't love flowers??
Receiving them, planting them, painting them, wearing them, or even just looking at them... I feel like every girl just has to love them!
I for one, think that they totally brighten my mood!
Floral prints have always been among my favorites.
They just always draw my eye.
I also love the convenience of a maxi dress, so when I saw this one from Lindsay's Secret Closet, I couldn't resist!
Floral prints are so classic, I really don't think they will ever go out of style.

That being said... I'm so excited to introduce this dress as the next dress in the series #mymammastyle!
It can be so much easier than you think to look cute as a mother of little ones so start with something cute like this dress!
I love that this dress can transition perfectly with each season.
The timeless floral print is perfect for both spring and summer, but the darker colors in the dress are also perfect for fall and winter!
I think it would look adorable with a jean jacket in the fall or a longer coat in the winter!

I also love that it is a maxi dress!
Maxi dresses look good on just about every frame.
They aren't form fitted so they just hang on your frame creating a slim look.
Something I also love about maxi dresses is that they work perfect with heels or flats, so you can decide to either dress it up or dress it down.
This particular dress is made a little shorter, but I personally love that you can see all of my wedges!
These wedges are old, but were hidden in the back of my closet for far too long so I got to rekindle my love for them ;)
In fact, Hunter asked me if they were new when he saw them, haha!

This dress is from Lindsay's Secret Closet and I am totally loving this online store!
Every single thing in the shop is super affordable and trendy and perfect to add to your "mom wardrobe."
Is there a better combo?
This particular dress is actually under $30! Score!

I'm so excited to style this dress differently through every season.
I'm sure you'll love something from Lindsay's Secret Closet so I have partnered with her to bring all of my wonderful followers a promo code!
Go ahead and use code: ALEIGHJOY for $5 off your purchase of $35 or more! :)

What is your current favorite print?
Let me know in the comments!
And, don't forget to tag your photos with #mymamma style to get featured on my blog!

Falling for Fall with Bouvardian

Thursday, November 12, 2015

The first snow fell the other day.
It was equally as exciting as it was terrifying.
Luckily none of it stuck on the ground.
However, it stuck in the mountains!
No!
No wait, Yes?
I have complete mixed feelings on the whole situation.
If you follow me on snapchat (@aleighjoy) then you'll be hearing lots of rambles about the colder weather ha.

So, the reason I can't figure out how I feel about it is because once winter hits, my fall wardrobe gets hidden under coats.
Pieces like this AMAZING dress from Bouvardian are making me wish fall would stay forever.
Yes, caps was completely necessary...
I mean just look at it! It's the dreamiest.
The colors, the design, the fit... everything about it is making me swoon.

I paired my dress with my favorite fall booties and a floppy hat because those things are the cutest and my fall essentials.
In the picture above you'll see I added a cardigan too! Perfect for colder weather!

Something I totally love about this dress is that you don't have to wear very much jewelry.
I wore some earrings and called it good because I didn't want to take away from the awesome detail it already has.

Sidenote that is totally not that interesting but also a huge plus for me...
It is a great twirl dress!

Bouvardian is a new online shop that I'm absolutely dying over!
Seriously, I want everything...
It's all cute, affordable, and modest.
What more do you need?

Jana, the owner, is SO nice.
I had the privilege of meeting her in person and we seriously stood in her son's room chatting for about an hour.
Sorry for invading your house Jana...
She hand picks each piece and she even adds style tips for each item.
Jana is also the creator of The Creative Closet on her blog. Check it out to see how she styles pieces from her shop!

I love my new Bohemian Tassel Maxi  and wish it were acceptable to wear it every single day.
Since it's not, I'm equally as excited about this embroidered maxi! (seen below)
It's so feminine and pretty and has a perfect fit.
My favorite clothes postpartum have been tighter up top and loser around the hips/tummy.
This dress does just that!
It's perfect for church, date night, or family photos!

The embroidered detail and the added lace make this dress so dreamy.
I loved wearing my pearl and rhinestone headband with it.
I can also see this dress paired with a dainty gold necklace and some gold pumps.
Ahh a dream!
I may need to change our family photo outfits and plan around this dress ;)

I'm so excited to have found Bouvardian and want to fill my whole closet with all their pretty pieces!
I can't wait to see Jana's next batch of new arrivals, they are sure not to disappoint.
Go on ahead and check out the shop for yourself!
I guarantee you will find more than one thing for yourself in the shop so use code ALEIGH10 at checkout for 10% off your order!

And I have to give photo credit to the lovely photographer of the last four images!
Check out Kiely over at Pocket of Blossoms and contact her for a shoot!
We already have her doing our Christmas card photos and I cannot wait! :)

All my love,
Aleigh Joy
