Loving Every Little Thing

Wednesday, May 23, 2018
Thank you Carter's for sponsoring this post. All thoughts and opinions are mine alone.

I remember every minute of my pregnancy with Oaklyn. I remember the restless leg syndrome, the first kick, decorating the nursery, buying her first dress, every ultrasound, the heartburn... ohhh the heartburn! I also remember all the nights I couldn't fall asleep because of the anxious anticipation of her arrival. No one prepares you for what's to come once the bump turns into a bundle of joy. No one can prepare you for the new forms of emotional and physical exhaustion that come from parenting. The thought of that overwhelmed me and consumed me. The day I had Oaklyn, a wave of fear had swept over my entire being and suddenly I felt like the captain of a sinking ship. To be honest, the whole first year felt that way for me. I am so glad I took so many pictures of her, otherwise the whole year would forever remain as a cloudy blur to me.

When I found out I was pregnant with Cambria, I immediately knew that I wanted to do everything possible to enjoy the first year instead of jumping aboard that sinking ship again... There are so many amazing firsts that happen in the first year. From taking a bath to eating solid foods, and rolling over to pulling up onto furniture, every day is an adventure. I wanted so badly to be present during Cambria's first year and I desperately wanted to love every moment. I wanted to love the way she smelled after a bath and snuggle with her in a soft blankie. I wanted to enjoy the newborn sneezes and feel joy at the first belly laugh. More than anything, I just wanted to remember that it all goes by so incredibly fast so every moment is worth cherishing. So many people told me that same thing when I had Oaklyn, but it took me experiencing it to understand.

When I started going through all the old clothes we would be passing on to Cambria, I quickly discovered we needed A LOT more of the basics. All of the white onesies and neutral colored pants of Oaklyn's were clearly used the most. The fluffy dresses and cute rompers were always fun, but I knew immediately a trip to Carter's was in order to grab some darling pieces from the Little Baby Basics Collection. Carter's makes cute and comfy pieces for newborns and babies from sizes preemie to 24 months! I've heard form several different people that Carter's is one of the only places that actually carries preemie sized clothing too! I learned pretty quickly with Oaklyn that quality clothing is very necessary. It'll be used a ton and you want your baby to feel comfortable in it. Clothing from the Little Baby Basics line is soft, hold up during all of baby's adventures, and the prices are just right.

When it comes to the basics, here are my favorites! First up is the bodysuit! Otherwise known as the onesie. Or, basically all babies wear in the first year, ha. It’s the ultimate basic for wearing by itself or layering under other outfits. They have expandable shoulders and snaps made to last. I also really love the easy outfit sets. It helps build baby's wardrobe with different pieces that all match! The tees also have expandable shoulders and the pants have a soft elastic waist. And lastly, I love all the bundles! They make it so easy to give shower gifts, and for mom to buy several pieces at once. You really can't go wrong with this line, so make sure to stop in to your nearest Carter's asap or check out the selection online! You can even get 20% off $40+ now through June 30th with code CART4342 online or 066944 in store!

From one mom to another, spend less time worrying and more time cherishing during the first year. By shopping the Little Baby Basics collection, you'll be able to spend more time loving every little thing and less time trying to figure out which baby clothes to get ;)

All my love,

Why Holidays Are So Much More Fun With Kids

Tuesday, November 21, 2017
This post is sponsored by Carter's; However, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

I have always absolutely loved holidays. I can remember as a kid sitting by my window late at night, just looking at all of my neighbor's Christmas lights. I would sit there until I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer because I just loved the magical feeling the lights brought. I remember waking up Christmas morning giddy with excitement because it was such a special day. I remember not being able to sleep the night before holidays because I was just SO excited. As a kid, the excitement of holidays can't be beat. I still loved holidays as I got older but noticed the magic start to fade. I no longer felt like the little girl I once was. However, that magic suddenly came back once I had kids of my own.

I remember hearing it all the time, "holidays are so much more fun with kids!" But, I never really understood what that meant until I had a child of my own. Oaklyn was almost a year old on her first Christmas and even though she didn't really understand what was happening, it was still so much fun for me. The next year was even more fun as we watched her tear open presents exclaiming "ooh's and ahh's" each time. This year I can hardly wait for christmas morning just so I can watch her experience the magic of Christmas. So why exactly are holidays so much more fun with kids? Let me explain...

First things first, you get to start as many holiday traditions as you want! I am kind of a tradition crazy person. I couldn't wait to have a family of my own because I was so excited and ready to start traditions. A few of my favorites are visiting Santa, watching Christmas movies, looking at Christmas lights as a family (to make it even more fun look up "the polar express" on pinterest!), making and decorating cookies, reading Christmas books, advent calendars, and matching family jammies! Did you know that Carter's has an amazing selection of children's pajamas in all different sizes?? Carter’s has the best holiday pajamas, not just because they’re affordable, but because they’re comfortable and stylish!

Second, you get to experience that same magic you once felt as a child all over again. It has been so fun to watch our kids experience the magic of holidays. Watching Oaklyn's eyes light up when we turned our Christmas tree on this year, literally filled my heart with joy. I couldn't stop smiling as I watched her eyes get big with excitement. I felt that same joy I once did as a child only now, it's ten times greater. Oaklyn can't wait for Santa to come and she asks if it's Christmas time just about every day. I am loving how excited she is and it's making me that much more excited as well.

Third, you get to plan a Christmas card! I don't know if this is as exciting to others as it is to me... but I literally am obsessed with Christmas cards! I get so giddy when they start showing up in the mail. I also love having it as a keepsake each year. I save our Christmas cards each year and love looking back over the years. I started the first year Hunter and I were married and have done one every year since. It has been so fun seeing our family change each year. It also forces you to take an updated family photo! With family pictures, comes planning coordinating outfits! Carter’s has a variety of styles perfect for every holiday moment, and they definitely have you covered in the family photo category! There's adorable clothes in several sizes at their store and online. Carter’s clothes and PJs are equally cute and comfy – at an affordable price point that doesn’t sacrifice quality.

Lastly, holidays with little ones means the opportunity to feel the joy of giving. I love receiving presents... who doesn't? But, I've learned over time that the joy of giving is even more fun for me. I love finding holiday gifts for my kiddos and feel so much joy when I watch them open up a present I got them. Oaks is a true girl and loves getting new clothes! Carter’s will have can’t-miss Black Friday deals beginning 11/17 so you can get your little ones some cute new holiday clothes at an amazing price! Carter’s and OshKosh B’gosh are giving away over $700,000 in Dash Cash to the first 100 people to visit their local Carter’s or OshKosh B’gosh store for the Dash In to Win Sweepstakes.  The Sweepstakes will be held on Black Friday (11/23 or 11/24 – depending on when the store opens after Thanksgiving). Plus, customers will receive a gift from Shutterfly on their $40+ purchase that day! SO many reasons to head to Carter's for Black Friday shopping! Also, you can take 20% off your purchase of $40 or more in store or online through 12/31/17! The in store code is: 070716 and the online code is: CART4198. So many great deals at Carter's!
It's also fun to teach your children why giving is important at a young age. Carter’s believes that every child deserves a good night sleep so they are partnering with Pajama Program, an organization that provides children new pajamas, from November 1st – December 31st. Customers can help by donating a pair of new pajamas in store or make a monetary donation at check out (in store or online). Carter’s will match up to 100,000 pairs of pajamas. Your local community benefits directly from your support and your children will learn that the holiday season isn't all about receiving... it is about giving as well.

Being a mother has been the hardest thing I've ever done... but it has also brought me the most joy. Children are a lot of work and a whole lot of fun! It has been so fun having kids during the holidays and I can't wait to create more memories with them this year! Now tell me, what do you look forward to most during the holidays??

All my love,
Aleigh Joy

Holiday Twinning With OshKosh B'Gosh

Thursday, November 9, 2017
“This post is sponsored by Everywhere Agency on behalf of OshKosh B’gosh; however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.”

You guys, the holidays are HERE! Every year I get so excited on September 1st because fall is the best season of the year and we get to break out my favorite clothing items of the year... sweaters, tights, boots, etc. Then Halloween comes to kick off the festivities and the next day, my mind is in full on Christmas mode! I love Thanksgiving too, but I like to think of it as a pre-Christmas ;) Either way, this time of year is such a fun and special time for everyone. With all the fun get togethers, family pictures, and parties, comes holiday clothes shopping! I stopped into OshKosh B'Gosh this weekend and found SUPER cute matching outfits for the girls! You know how crazy I am about the matching sister thing ;) OshKosh always has such a cute selection of holiday clothes and this year is nothing short of amazing!

From denim to dresses and sweaters to skirts, OshKosh has you covered! I had THE hardest time picking out matching outfits for the girls because I loved everything. Before I left I said to Hunter: "I should be back soon!" HA! Guys, I knew I loved their clothes... but I did not expect to have such a hard time deciding! I had like 5 outfits picked out and different variations of the outfits and couldn't for the life of me decide! I almost just gave up and bought them all haha. Luckily one of the sweet employees helped me pick out the outfits in the pictures and I could not be more excited with how they turned out. Oaks kept twirling and smiling when I got her dressed and she loved matching her little sister. I about died when we put Cambria on her lap and she kissed her little head. Oh man, sisters are SO fun!

I love that OshKosh B'Gosh is my one stop shop for stylish and age appropriate clothes for both girls. As you've seen from my instagram, I have this thing with putting the girls in matching clothes... it's just so cute! Before Cambria was born I had the hardest time finding clothes in both infant and toddler sizes and it made me so sad! You can only imagine how excited I was to walk into OshKosh and see they had all the outfits I wanted not only on crazy sale, but also in both baby and toddler sizes! I loved that they put both sizes right next to each other instead of in different sections of the store because it made it so easy for me to find the right sizes in each style. All my dreams were coming true as I was shopping and picturing the girls matching during all the holiday activities I have planned ;)

OshKosh is having an amazing sale right now making it so easy to love both your kid's style and the price. All the clothes online and in store are marked down like crazy and on top of that I have a coupon code for you to get another 20% off your purchase of $40 or more! In other words, you'll be getting a steal of a deal! In store just use code: 037264 and online use code: OKBG3418

Another great deal to look out for is the OshKosh Dash in to win sweeps on Black Friday! They will already have amazing deals in store but on top of that, the first 100 people to any store will receive a gift card worth up to $100! Depending on when your local store opens the deal either starts on 11/23 or 11/24. If the store opens on 11/23, the dash in to win is on 11/23. If your store is closed on 11/23, then the dash in to win event is on 11/24. Find your closest store here!

The last thing I have for all of you is something extra fun to get excited about! I'm giving away a $50 gift card to one of you that can be used in store or online at OshKosh B'Gosh! That way you can get your kiddos ready for the holiday season with all their stylish and age appropriate styles! Leave a comment with your favorite holiday tradition here for one entry and tag friends in my instagram post for even more chances to win!

Now go ahead and get all your little ones holiday outfits picked out for a GREAT price at OshKosh! And don't forget the matching or coordinating outfits ;)

All my love,
Aleigh Joy

A Little Easter Lady

Wednesday, April 12, 2017

I love having a little girl for several reasons, but being able to make her my little dress up dolly is definitely up there ;)
Before we knew Oaklyn's gender, I was convinced she was a girl.
By the time we actually found out she was a girl, I had no clue what to think since I had just assumed she was a boy!
We listened to "All American Girl" by Carrie Underwood on the way to dinner that night and I thought my heart might burst.
Suddenly, I knew I was meant to be this little girly's mama and the thought of pretty holiday dresses, all the bows, and sparkly shoes had me beyond excited!
I've always loved everything about holidays but one thing I realllyy love is an excuse to dress Oaklyn up and take some fun photos ;)
We got together with some friends last week and had a picnic lunch in a local orchard and snapped some photos of our little Easter kiddos.
It was so dreamy being in the tunnel of trees that are so close to blossoming for spring.
Oaklyn and I were sitting alone one moment and she looked up at me and said, "I yov mama."
Those are the moments in motherhood that make all the hard ones beyond worth it!
I love remembering all these little moments and capturing them through photos so I never forget.
This year we are going to be telling Oaklyn all about our Savior and the great sacrifice he made for all of us, but even more importantly, that He Lives!
She may still be a little young to understand, but we'll be doing a little craft each year to show her :)
I'll be sharing that one with you guys soon!
For now, enjoy these pictures of my sweet little Easter Lady :)

All my love,
Aleigh Joy

Making Pool Days Stress Free With Sunsnap Swimwear!

Monday, April 10, 2017

This summer, we got passes to a local water park so Oaks can have some fun her last few months as the only child!
She has been talking about going down the "wawa slides" with dada for weeks now and cannot wait for the park to open!
I'll be pretty largely pregnant so no water slides for me... but I'm definitely looking forward to lounging around in the lazy river ;)
I'm hoping this insane winter is finally coming to a close... The weather keeps tricking us though so who really knows!
But seriously, this is the most snow we have seen since we've lived here and I'll admit that it's not my favorite ;)
Once February hit, I was pretty much craving warmer weather and walks with my little family.
At this point though, I'm craving dresses and sandals and dreaming of pool days.

When I became a parent, I quickly learned that pool days definitely weren't quite as relaxing anymore.
It also meant a whole lot more preparation to make it actually go smoothly.
I'm talking snacks (a new one for literally every 15 minutes haha), towels for the whole family, pacifiers and other "essentials", a change of clothes, lotion for after because my little girl has eczema,  pool toys, the list goes on and on...
But what's really the hardest part about swimming with a baby/toddler?
Hands down changing diapers!
We've been lucky enough to have caught any sort of accident before it meant shutting the pool down haha, but I'm just waiting for the day Oaklyn poops in the pool.
Changing diapers at the pool means taking off the entire bathing suit and trying to cover up your completely naked baby while trying to change their diaper.
Then you have to try to get that wet bathing suit back on and the whole thing is just a whole lot harder than it needs to be!

That's why I was beyond excited when we found SunSnap Swimwear!
These bathing suits have snaps to make changing diapers at the pool a million times easier!
Hallelujah!
They are cute, trendy, easy, and convenient so your pool day can be spent having fun without hassle!
Baby onesies have snaps to make our lives easier, so why not put them on bathing suits?
I don't know why more baby and toddler swimsuits don't have these because they seriously make life so much easier!
We weren't able to use this swimsuit until recently because as I mentioned earlier, the weather has been totally hit or miss with the sunshine... but we had a warm day last week and got the hose out!
Oaks had so much fun running around in her suit and kept saying, "oohh mama, baby suit pwetty!"
These suits come in so many cute styles, patterns, and prints so you are sure to find something you love!
As a mom that is already busy and has enough to worry about, I'm so glad that this is one less thing I have to stress about!

Make sure to check out SunSnap Swimwear and get a cute suit for all your summer adventures!

All my love,
Aleigh Joy

With You Every Step + Giveaway!

Monday, October 24, 2016

I remember vividly the first time I felt inclined to protect and be there for my daughter.
Obviously those instincts came right from the start, literally the moment I saw her sweet face... but it wasn't until later that I realized just how strong those mama bear instincts are.
As you may already know, Oaklyn has an eye issue.
We caught it very quick and have been working with a specialist to figure it all out since she was 9 months old... so for more than half her life.
The first time I ever noticed was when she was 5 months old.
I had posted a picture of her and saw that one of her eyes wasn't really looking at the camera the way the other was.
Long story short, we found out she has Brown's syndrome and the specialist is watching her closely to decide if we'll need to fix it with surgery.
Around the time we started meeting with the eye specialist, I started receiving some rude comments about her eye.
That's just what happens when you put your family out there on the internet, but it really got to me.
There were a few DM's, snapchats, emails, and even comments on Instagram posts with rude remarks about her eye.
I felt like a monster was going to unleash every time I read them and after that fiery mean side of me thought up every crazy thing I could do to defend her, the only thing I really did was snuggle my baby girl and let her know that she is absolutely perfect.
Because she is, she is beautifully created and means everything to me.

From that moment forward, I made sure to let her know that mama would always be there for her, no matter what life may throw at us.
With every literal step she took and every figurative new step in life, I would be right there with her supporting and encouraging her.
It warms my heart when she turns and looks for me because she knows I'm not too far away in case she needs me.
She's starting to play at the park without me right next to her and as much as I'm loving watching her grow up, I also love that she still looks towards me until our eyes meet so she knows it's all okay.

I remember when Oaklyn started to walk on her own, and I also remember tearing up when I noticed my baby was growing up right before my eyes.
When she got going on her own two feet, she really took off.
But, who did she look for when she needed an extra hand to hold?
Her mama of course :)
I loved holding her hand and watching her take those first steps in her Freshly Picked Moccs.
I wanted to ensure her feet were covered and protected while also comfortable.
We chose Freshly Picked for those reasons alone, but the style factor happened to make it the easiest choice for me on my motherhood journey ;)
The color and pattern options Freshly Picked offers will suit any mama's wants and needs.
I also assure you that the quality will win you over in a heart beat.
Not to mention, they stay on the absolute best! There is an elastic band around the ankle that keeps them from slipping off.
Just as I strive to always be there for her, I know that Freshly Picked will be too.
They helped her when learning to walk, protected her feet from the hot ground during summer, kept her warm during the frigid winter, and they were the perfect accessory during her first birthday.
I'm so glad Freshly Picked has their "Next Step" option of hard sole moccs so they will literally be with her every step of the way.

So Oaklyn Joy, I'll be there for you through every walk of life, and I'll strive to always be there when you need someone to turn to.
I'll be right there waiting for the day to end when we part for your first day of school, I'll be there when the girls at school act like anything but your friend, I'll be there when you score your first goal or stick your first backhandspring, I'll be there watching during your first school play, I'll be the first hug when you get hurt, I'll help you choose your prom dress, I'll drop you off at college, I'll help you plan your dream wedding, and I'll love your future kids as much as I love you.
There's so much you have yet to experience and I want you to know, I'll be there with you through every single step.

All my love,
Mama

Because we love Freshly Picked SO much, we have teamed up with them to give away a pair of moccs! This is a company I fully support and believe in and I know you will too! To enter head to my instagram and follow the simple steps :)
